As there are no bylaws concerning this matter, we ask you to have consideration for your neighbours when choosing to light your bonfire. It is an offence under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to cause a nuisance by burning rubbish. Go to www.sevenoaks.gov.uk for some guidelines

What is the committee doing to reduce the speed of vehicles using our roads?

This has been a topic for the committee from the beginning of the organisation. There is no easy answer to this problem. We are against chicanes, sleeping policeman and other physical barriers. Our reasoning is that barriers cause additional light pollution and traffic noise. We regularly ask the Police to carry out speed checks. We keep in close contact with Sevenoaks District and Kent County Councils and campaign for more speed signs.

I regularly see cars parked on the pavement blocking the pathway and making pedestrians walk in the road. What should I do?

If it is an area where there are yellow lines call Sevenoaks District Council.

In other areas call the Police: parking on the pavement is an offence and the owner of the vehicle may be fined and recieve points on their driving license.
