*** NEWS UPDATE ****

The campaign to have the Kerbs and pavement restored to a proper height in part of Brittains Lane has been successful (see below). While the work is carried out Brittains Lane (between 71 - 85) will be closed from 16th August for 6 weeks.

The 61st AGM was held at on Thursday 17th June 2010. Graham Lodge was appointed Chairman, Avril Hunter as Secretary and Angela Greensmyth-Jones as Treasurer, several residents were appointed to the committee. If you have any questions. email : info@redlandsresidents.org.uk

PCSO Karl Coomber from Kent Police, our speaker for the evening, announced recent numbers of on the spot speeding fines and gave recent statistics for burglaries in our roads which show a marked fall. Speeding will continue to be monitored at random times of the day.

Following on from three car accidents in Brittains Lane in recent months, two involving several cars and the other involving pedestrians, we are working with the New Beacon school to get better speed warning signage in the road. New Beacon School have asked KCC for a section of Brittains Lane to be designated 20 MPH.

Residents are campaigning for the kerb and pavements to be repaired in the section of Brittains Lane from Number 71 to 85. This affects many Middlings residents walking to the station and school buses. Please lend suport by reporting this to KCC.

This narrow part of Brittains Lane is where the Association have been trying to get Road Safety improvements for many years. In 1980 Sevenoaks District Council had a plan in place to widen the road here and add a pavement on the other side of the road. Simply reinstating the kerb height or introducing safety kerbs to stop cars driving onto the pavement will be a great safety improvment.
